Abstract:
This chapter confronts the theory of special relativity with two fundamental laws of logic: the Law of Identity and the Law of Non-Contradiction. The implication of time in both laws (i.e. one thing and its contrary are impossible at the same time) makes them incompatible with the local simultaneity deduced from the Lorentz Transformation. As a consequence, the laws of logic (and logical argumentation) could only be applied in proper reference systems, a very significant particularity of these systems that calls into question the Principle of Relativity, insofar as this principle refers to reference frames.
