Abstract:
In the world of science, it is widely known that the scientific quantity of changing matter is commonly conserved before and after the change, as seen for instance in the law of energy conservation in physics or the law of conservation of mass in chemistry. This idea has yet to be widely recognized in the field of set theory in mathematics. Dated ideas that would be regarded as absurd in other scientific fields, such as the belief that the cardinality of a set and that of proper subsets are equal, are still believed. Therefore, if this idea of the law of conservation is applied to mathematics, and if the fact that the total of cardinality is conserved during the union/partition of a set is introduced as a self-evident law or axiom, this dated idea will be swept away and the continuum hypothesis/generalized continuum hypothesis can be disproved.
