Abstract:
Motion of a charged particle, accelerated by electric field, is considered under three systems of electrodynamics. In classical electrodynamics, mass is constant at rest mass. In relativistic electrodynamics, mass increases with speed and kinetic energy is contained in increase of mass. In radiative electrodynamics, mass is constant, but accelerating force decreases with speed, reducing to zero at the speed of light c, with radiation as difference between change in potential energy and change in kinetic energy. For charged particle, moving in electric field, radiation reaction force, akin to friction, becomes equal and opposite of accelerating force, at speed of light c, as limit. Invoking aberration of electric field, radius of circular revolution of charged particle, round a central force of attraction, is shown to be without radiation. If particle is dislodged from circular orbit, it revolves in unclosed elliptic paths, radiating at frequency of revolution, with fine structure.
