Au cours de plusieurs décennies, le niveau d'importance accordé aux différences générationnelles a considérablement augmenté. Cette recherche vise à répondre à la question de savoir si les chefs d'équipe peuvent exercer une influence sur l'équipe pour avoir un impact positif sur ses performances malgré les différences qui président. Une dynamique d'équipe positive conduit à des synergies au sein d'une équipe et à des taux de réussite de projets plus élevés. Les synergies sont l'épine dorsale de l'idiome généralement associé au terme équipe (Team : Together Everyone Achieves More). Bref, les trois styles de leadership qui ont été identifiés comme favorisant une dynamique d'équipe positive et qui auront un impact direct sur la gestion de projets sont : leadership transformationnel (visionnaire), leadership participatif (démocratique) et leadership partagé (coaching). Grâce à de tels styles de leadership, qui peuvent être utilisés en combinaison, un gestionnaire de projets peut créer un environnement qui, peu importe les différences générationnelles, améliore la rétention des employés, le respect mutuel, la responsabilité, la confiance, la communication efficace et ouverte, la participation aux réunions, l'engagement, la collaboration, l'engagement, le niveau de prise de risque et la productivité globale.
