Abstract:
Alchemists of the Middle Ages were busy trying to make gold from anything and everything. The Gold Atom, with atomic mass of 197, is a tough customer. It has no other isotopes, and it does not want to associate with other atoms. If atoms were held together by the mysterious strong-force or by gluons or some other attracting force invented by man, any number of nucleons could form stable atoms. Our Element Chart shows otherwise.
