**Abstract:**

The cosmic ray muon decay in the upper atmosphere is claimed by relativists to be an evidence of the relativistic time dilation. They consider it as a reliable experimental proof of the special relativity. This paper reveals the unviability of this claim, using an analytical approach. The time and space intervals between the events of the muons formation and their arrival to the Earth surface are analyzed by the means of the Lorentz transformation. Contradictory findings are obtained.

J. Zwarts, The height (x') and time (t') coordinates of the muon and earth surface with respect to the muon frame are given correctly at both events, so as their corresponding coordinates (x & t for muon and earth) with respect to the earth frame. Nothing can prevent you from applying the spatial LT between any event coordinates in one frame and its corresponding coordinates in the other frame.

The contradiction arises from the mutual time dilation. Just as the earth frame is moving towards the muon from the muon frame perspective, then Dt'=g*Dt, since Dx=0. But, L'=v*Dt', leading to L'=v*g*Dt = g*L, contradicting the assumed length contraction from the muon perspective L'=L/g, resulting in g=1.

Your transformation gives the result L'=L/g. But this does not mean that g=1.

Because your L' is not the same as the L' found with an observation where Dt'=0.

There is no contradiction.
