Un sommaire détaillé de la théorie de Van Flandern sur la formation planétaire est présenté. La théorie propose les planètes issues en paires à partir des renflements équatoriales d'un Soleil qui tourne trop vite et se contracte, ce qui explique les similitudes entre Vénus et la Terre et entre Uranus et Neptune. Mars et Mercure sont d'anciennes lunes, la première de Bellatrix, la deuxième de Vénus. Il propose également des explosions de 6 planètes liquides, dont des lunes de 4 entre elles explosaient aussi, à cause des contraintes de marée, laissant la Ceinture principale et la Ceinture de Kuiper. Les explosions sont étayées par une centaine d'éléments de preuve. Les collisions entre planètes sont considérées comme trop improbables comme il y a trop d'espace entre elles. Les lunes sont dites aussi d'une origine de la fission, seules des planètes solides et en paires des planètes géantes. L'énergie pour les explosions est proposée venir de la gravité Le Sage. Les objections à cette théorie de la gravité sont toutes réfutées. Les comètes sont considérées comme étant le résultat d'une explosion, donc il n'y a pas de nuage de Oort. Le modèle est le seul qui explique le jumelage des planètes et des lunes, mais aussi il explique facilement les orbites circulaires et coplanaires, la distribution du moment angulaire, et les anomalies de Mercure et Mars. Elle est également confirmée par les preuves exoplanétaires.
