Se ha diseñado un modelo físico-matemático para explicar la parte que corresponde al proceso de expansión adiabática, de la pluma de plasma generada mediante la técnica PLD (pulsed laser deposition), basado en la suposición de que existe un aumento de presión momentáneo, dentro de la cámara de vacío una vez que se aplica el pulso láser y se genera la pluma de plasma, este aumento de presión representa una compresión adiabática del ambiente que rodea al plasma, que puede ser aire u otro gas, de tal forma se describe la expansión del plasma mediante la información que nos proporciona dicha compresión. Al estar involucrada la presión del medio gaseoso en el planteamiento, por consecuencia fue indispensable incluir a la velocidad del sonido dentro de las ecuaciones deducidas, esta aparición generó ecuaciones que en forma tienen una connotación muy parecida a las ecuaciones de la teoría de la relatividad. De forma teórica fue posible establecer una gran parte de las expresiones matemáticas necesarias, dejando la parte que involucró fundamentalmente a la presión en función del tiempo P(t) a la espera del resultado experimental.
