Abstract:
The theory of the Relativity postulates that the celerity of the
photon in vacuum is constant, which has the consequence that its mass would
be zero. However, radio waves of pulsars come in dispersed order (DM)
according to their frequency, which means that their propagation speed is
different and less than the celerity of light in vacuum. Using the Dispersion
Measurements and applying the Lorentz factor to the photon, it is calculated
here that the rest mass of the photon would be about 10 -47 kg (≈ 10 -11 eV/c²).
This demonstration is part of the more general framework of Neo-Newtonian
Mechanics.
