Abstract:
In Section 2 of his 1905 paper ‘On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies’, Albert Einstein introduced the equations tB - tA = γAB/(c - v) and t′A - tB = γAB/(c + v). Then, assuming these equations, Einstein stated his perspective: ‘Observers moving with the moving rod would thus find that the two clocks were not synchronous, while observers in the stationary system would declare the clocks to be synchronous’. This perspective implies that an event in a moving system viewed from within that system differs from the same event viewed from a stationary system. This became the basic concept of the special theory of relativity. However, from the viewpoint of formal logic in the field of philosophy, there is a possibility that his perspective was based on an error in disjunctive judgment. I explain this issue thoroughly in this short article.
