Abstract:

In this review of Majorana's 1918 experiment, amplified Doppler shifts in the wavelength of light by multiple reflections from moving mirrors are recalculated on the basis of the undulatory theory, the new-source theory, and the elastic-impact theory respectively, and compared to the experimental result and to the theoretical predictions computed by Q. Majorana.
