Abstract:
Within the framework of the “delay-time” model, outlined by us in a previous paper [1], a new formula for the speed of light through a moving optical medium was derived. In the paper mentioned above, that formula was derived using an equivalence concerning the total time in which light travels the length l of a tube, at rest in the laboratory reference system, through which an optical medium moves with the velocity v. In the present paper a more detailed presentation of the “delay-time” model was made, and the new formula for the speed of light through a moving optical medium was derived in a simple way, based on a reasonable approximation regarding the length of the optical path traveled by light when propagating over a distance L in the laboratory reference system, through an optical medium moving with the speed v relative to it.
