Abstract:

This paper on quantum field theory (QFT) is part of a series of papers I have already introduced [1,2]. QFT is considered by many, including leaders in this field to be highly abstract and complex regarding its application to theoretical and particle physics. However, my intention is to describe it in such a manner that the reader will be able to come away with at least a conceptual understanding of what it is and roughly how it is used. QFT lays out rules and mathematical tools that have emerged from elmentary quantum mechanics, some of which I describe here, have been useful in the development of what is called the standard model for particle physics.
