Abstract:
Quantum mechanics is an extension of quantum physics through the establishment of mathematical rules that seem to govern the behavior of subatomic particles. In this article I provide a conceptual description of quantum mechanics, including related key historical developments. The field of mathematics has always played a large part in physics. However, with the advent of this new form of physics, it appears that the field is almost fully dominated by mathematics with minimal understanding of the causal physical mechanisms. That being said, quantum mechanics equations and mathematical methods have demonstrated impressive accuracy in predicting outcomes of experiments that lie within the realm observability. Unimaginable technologies such as quantum computation have emerged from this field. Unfortunately, developments over the recent decades in areas such as string theory result in a state of unfalsifiability.
