Abstract:

In wave theory, the speed of light is determined by the properties of the medium and does not depend on the movement of the source, and the Doppler effect determines the frequency changes when the source moves and when the receiver moves by two different formulas and . The article shows that the ethereal Doppler effect in optics is used erroneously, because it is assumed that light propagates in a medium in the same way as sound propagates in air or water. An effect extended to the ballistic hypothesis is proposed, according to which, when the light source moves, the frequency is determined by the same formula as when the receiver moves. The extension of the effect to the ballistic hypothesis makes it possible to consistently explain all known optical phenomena and prove that the cosmological redshift occurs without the recession of galaxies and the myth of the Big Bang.

This demonstration shows that applying the Doppler effect to electromagnetic waves propagating at the speed of light in vacuum is mathematically and physically inconsistent, even within classical formalism, without invoking modern or alternative interpretations.
1. Initial Assumptions:
We consider an electromagnetic wave propagating in vacuum at the speed of light c.
- Emitted frequency: f
- Wavelength: λ = c / f
The source moves towards the observer with speed v.

2. Apparent Wavelength Calculation:
As the source approaches, each wavefront is emitted closer to the previous one, so:
λ' = λ - v · T = (c / f) - v · (1 / f) = (c - v) / f

3. Perceived Frequency:
The frequency perceived by the observer would be:
f' = c / λ' = c / [(c - v) / f] = f · [c / (c - v)]
This is similar to the classical Doppler effect formula but has problematic implications in vacuum.
4. Logical and Physical Contradiction:
This formula implies that the wavelength changes due to the motion of the source, but in vacuum:
- There is no propagation medium that can compress or stretch the wave.
- Light always propagates at the constant speed c, regardless of the motion of the source or the observer.
- The photon has its own invariant frequency and momentum, and these properties cannot be altered by the source's motion in the absence of a local interaction with a medium.
Therefore, the perceived frequency shift has no physical support in vacuum and only makes sense in a material medium.
5. Mathematical Conclusion:
Applying classical Doppler formulas to electromagnetic waves in vacuum leads to an internal contradiction: either the wavelength changes without a medium, or the constancy of the speed of light is violated.
Thus, the Doppler effect cannot be considered a physically real phenomenon in the case of EM wave propagation in vacuum. Any observed shift is interpretive (perceptual), not a result of wave propagation itself.
