I agree with you. A hoax. However, a hoax that was not perpetrated until the academic year of 1969-70. The standardized scientific textbooks ignored Quantum Physics until 1969-70. Einstein's Relativity was ignored, also. The Big Bang was simply not taught in the standardized scientific textbooks until the academic year of 1969-70. Schrodinger and Einstein enjoyed a correspondence in their native language of German. They may have shared a disdain for Quantum Physics' claim of Entanglement of Quantum states.
