The motion of a charged particle is described in classical, relativistic, quantum and an alternative electrodynamics. A particle is accelerated by an electric field to the speed of light, as a limit, with constant mass and emission of radiation. An electron moving at the speed of light is easily stopped by a decelerating field and then accelerated in the opposite direction to reach the limiting speed of light.
