Abstract:
Gullstrand-Painlevé coordinates [1,2] exist on a flat space-time background and describe the metric of a stationary black hole. Hamilton and Lisle [3] have demonstrated that Doran coordinates for the Kerr-Newman metric of a rotating black hole also exist on a flat space-time background. Motivated by these facts, a new set of coordinates is presented, which describes the metric of a translating black hole, which exists on a flat space-time background. From these new coordinates, a general law of motion is presented for this case.
